November - Pumpkin Pie Treats - Ingredients:

These biscuits make your house smell like Thanksgiving! Pumpkin is a great source of fiber. You can add any leftover pumpkin to your dogs food, if you'd like. It makes a great low-calorie filler. The added spices and syrup make these treats sweet and aromatic.

    1½ cups whole wheat flour
2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for rolling
    ½ cup rolled oats
    1 tsp cinnamon
    ½ tsp nutmeg
    ½ cup chicken broth
¾ cup pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
    1 tbsp oil
    1 tbsp maple syrup
    1 egg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Blend together the broth, pumpkin, oil, syrup and egg in blender or food processor.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix together with a spoon.
Using hands, incorporate all the flour into the dough. Roll out onto a floured surface.
Lightly sprinkle flour on top of the dough, keeping it floured so it won't stick to the rolling pin.
    Roll to = inch thickness.
Cut out the biscuits with cookie butters and place on baking sheet covered with grease or non-stick foil.
Bake for 30 or 40 minutes or until brown.
Store in airtight container in fridge.
December - Apple Cinnamon Treats - Three Dog Bakery - Ingredients:
      4 cups whole-wheat flour
      ½ cup cornmeal
      1 egg
      2 tablespoons vegetable oil
      1 small apple (grated)
      1 teaspoon cinnamon
      1 1/3 cups water

In a bowl combine all ingredients except the apple and water. Grate apple into mixture and add water. Mix until it starts forming together. Turn out on a lightly floured surface. Knead well. Roll out to a thickness of ¼ - inch to ½ - inch. Take a straight edge and score the dough horizontally then vertically to make a grid of ¾ squares. Be careful not to score the dough that it completely cuts through the dough. Place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with a nonstick spray. Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour.

      Yield: 1 ½ pounds
